THE TEEN PROGRAM
Every teen loves fun…
Every teen wants friends…
Every teen is a great actor, even if they never hit the stage… (Many just don’t realize it!)
Every parent of a teen wants them engaged in worthwhile activities…
Every parent of a teen wants them to make friends with the right people…
Every parent of a teen wants them to develop skills and confidence so they reach their full potential.
Our program is uniquely suited to the teen years. As they move along the voyage of self discovery, teens try on many characters and faces. They benefit from a “safe” environment where they can be who they are without fear. They thrive where they can focus their tremendous energies and emotion as part of a team dedicated to making everyone shine. The skills they learn in our program are immediately applicable in school, the community, interviews, etc. People admire and respect someone who has the skills to publicly and confidently share who they are in any situation; we help teens to do that.
This program runs during the school year with a 75 minute class each week. It uses our own specially developed games, activities, and performances to give young people skills in the five basic areas of drama: Non-movement, Movement, Voice, Characterization and Improvisation.
The program is unique in that it directly links the dramatic skills we teach with real-life skills so important for success. Everyone values the public speaking skills fostered by drama, but our program goes further, helping teens learn the different skills involved in speaking to different groups, be they friends in the school cafeteria, a classroom of inattentive peers, a school assembly, or with prospective employers.

What if my teen has no drama experience—can they join?
YES! Our program will give your child a love of drama and the skills to “act-up” with the best of them.
What about teens who do have drama experience—will this program help them?
YES! Many children with drama experience come to us with the need to hone the skills necessary to become more effective on stage. However, the added value of understanding how their drama skills can be used in daily life benefits them greatly.
My daughter is afraid she won’t fit in. She has had bad experiences with bullying and cruel treatment at school and it has affected her self-esteem. She is a great person, and would benefit from the confidence you offer, but I’m having trouble getting her to take the step.
Tell your daughter that our classes become a place of refuge for many young people from the cynicism and destructiveness of some teen school cultures, which are based in fear. Ours is based in the freedom that comes from self-expression. We focus on building a good community in our classes and our teen members will tell you that some of their best friendships have been formed with people they met at drama class. As well, our instructors are young and dynamic and remember how hard high school can be; they can become great mentors and role models. Finally, remind her of our money-back guarantee (although we bet she’ll never want to use it!!)
My son is very shy, hates public speaking, and would be embarrassed to speak in front of others—I can’t imagine him performing before a large crowd. Does he have to perform in your program?
All of our programming is invitational. If participating in the fun games and activities is enough for him then that’s a good place to start. These will help him to develop skills and confidence. However…If you read some of the testimonials from other parents you will see that we are very good at helping kids discover their love to be onstage and performing in front of others. We have had many experiences where a child begins the program, not wanting to perform but when show time arrives-- we couldn’t keep them off the stage if we tried! It is the transformational power of drama.
